… and an update.
I re-started this blog with great and wonderful intentions of keeping up with it on a regular basis. *snort* Well. I tried. In this era of facebook status updates, it’s sometimes so much easier to just post what we’re eating for breakfast…and hope that it suffices as a real update on us. It’s not. But I let myself be sucked into the vortex.
I wanted this because it helps me remember. Now if I can just remember – and take the time to write – it will serve me well.
I miss writing.
But it takes time. And energy. And thoughtfulness. None of which I have on a day-to-day basis. Most days I’m in survival mode.
But I’m here.
All is well in the land of the Reedy’s. The boys are growing like weeds… Noah is talking more and more on a daily basis. We’ve discovered that he now loves to sleep. Which is totally unlike him for the first year of his life. If he gets fussy I’ll ask him if he’s tired and he’ll say, “Teepy! Ni-Night…” And if I ask him if he wants to go to bed… he’ll high-tail it to his bed, fling himself over the little make-shift bed rail we’ve created and lay down…. and ask for his blanket and ‘Row Row Row Your Boat’. Yes. We have to sing to him. But he sleeps. This is a very good thing.
Trey is getting more and more ornery as the days progress… as we count down the days until school starts. I don’t think it’s nerves as much as he’s sick of sitting at home with me and Noah being subject to Noah’s nap schedule and my need to get work done. But we have shining moments… I panicked a little when I read that they would like the kids to know a few sight words by the time they come to kindergarten. Ack! Sight words. Doh. So thanks to Mimi who gave Trey a set of flashcards on vacation, we have been working on them tirelessly. AND. He loves it. It’s like a game for him. We have 17 I think. All in the space of about a week… I’m so proud of that boy and his ability to just suck up knowledge. AND… he is SWIMMING! Yes. All on his own. Again. I’m so proud of him.
DJ and I continue to plug along… we are thankful… SO THANKFUL that Trey got a seat in the public elementary school we were originally gunning for. No more private school insanity for us. Thank goodness.
We recently returned from 2 weeks visiting family and friends in SC and, though it was tiring, I feel refreshed. It’s good to have people… good people in our lives. It keeps us grounded. We reconnected…
So. I hope this wasn’t altogether disappointing. I’ll try to be more profound in the coming days…
Take care,
~ K
